Strictly speaking, desiccants have no shelf life because their shelf life is their moisture absorption rate. If the moisture absorption is saturated, it may not have any effect after a few hours. Taking silicone desiccant as an example, its moisture absorption rate is around 30%, which means that after it absorbs 30% of its own weight of water, it will lose its effectiveness. Therefore, desiccants generally rely on moisture absorption rate rather than shelf life. If it is a sealed packaging desiccant, it can be stored for a long time, but we usually inform customers with a one-year shelf life. After all, no matter how you seal the packaging, there will always be air inside, and there will be some moisture in the air.

If you are placing an electronic circuit board, there is no need to worry about the shelf life. As long as your packaging is well sealed, the effect of the desiccant is quite long because it will absorb all the air and moisture inside the packaging. As long as there is no air leakage, the shelf life can be said to be infinite.

For high-precision equipment such as electronic products, we generally recommend customers to use silicone desiccants because they are insoluble in water and any solvents, non-toxic, odorless, chemically stable, and do not react with any substances except strong alkalis and acids. The product quality fully meets environmental requirements such as ROHS and REACH, and meets the Chinese chemical standard HG/T2765-2005. It does not contain harmful substances such as DMF (dimethyl fumarate). At the same time, silicone is also certified by the US FDA as a desiccant that can be used in direct contact with drugs and food. Compared to other desiccants, it is relatively safe and has no dust and will not reverse osmosis.
